SiteTune SEO Checker & Coach
Help and documentation
How SiteTune checks your site and how to act on what it finds.
Getting started
After you add SiteTune, open it from your site dashboard (Apps > SiteTune SEO Checker & Coach) and click “Scan my site”. The app reads the sitemap of your published site and checks each page. Free checks the first 25 pages, Pro 150 and Business 500; the homepage always comes first. If your site is not published yet, publish it first.
The CMS
Settings, the last scan and one score per day are kept in a collection named SiteTune Data in your site’s CMS. If your site does not have the CMS yet, the dashboard shows a one-click button to add it (it is free). Scans work without it, but nothing is remembered between visits.
The score
Each page gets a score from 0 to 100 and the site score is the average. Errors (marked “Fix now”) cost the most, warnings (“Should fix”) less and notes (“Nice to have”) least. The Overview lists the checks that cost you most first, with the number of pages each one touches.
Page checks
- Title tag: present, 30 to 65 characters, contains the focus keyword, not shared with another page.
- Meta description: present, 70 to 165 characters, contains the focus keyword, not shared with another page.
- Headings: exactly one H1 that contains the focus keyword, heading levels in order.
- Text: at least 150 words, 300 or more recommended, with the focus keyword in the text.
- Images: alt text on every image.
- Links: at least two links to other pages of the site.
- Structured data, page language, share image, page size, noindex, canonical and redirects.
Site checks
The Site tab tests robots.txt (nothing blocked, sitemap linked), the XML sitemap, the redirect from http to https and from the www or non-www variant to your main address, whether missing pages answer 404, the homepage response time and whether an llms.txt is served for AI assistants. Each failed check says where to fix it in your site settings.
Fixing a page
Open the page in the Pages tab. Titles, descriptions and focus keywords are part of the page’s SEO settings; with Pro you edit them in the app and click “Apply and publish”. “Get AI ideas” suggests titles and descriptions for the page, using its focus keyword when there is one. Headings, text, images and links are changed in the editor; the next scan clears the check.
Focus keyword
The search phrase the page should be found for, such as “wedding photographer in Leeds”. Once set, the checks measure whether it appears in the title, description, H1 and text. The Keywords tab (Pro) lists ideas for your site with monthly search volume and competition and sets any of them as a page’s focus keyword in one click. If there is no research yet, “Generate ideas” starts it; it takes a few minutes.
Ignoring a check
Next to any issue click Ignore. Ignored checks no longer count toward the score and are listed in Settings, where “Bring back” restores them. Save your settings to keep the list.
Compare (Pro)
Enter the address of another site’s page. SiteTune fetches it once and lays its title, description, headings, text length, images, links, structured data and response time next to your homepage. The list of addresses is saved with your settings; the fetched pages are not stored.
Local business data (Business)
Fill in the business name and whatever else you want shown (type, phone, address, hours, price range, image), save, then click “Apply to homepage”. A schema.org LocalBusiness block is written into the homepage’s SEO settings and published. “Remove” takes it out again. Nothing in the form is required for the rest of the app.
Alt text ideas (Business)
For a page with images that have no alt text, “Suggest alt text” describes up to six of them. Copy the text into the image settings in the editor.
History
One score per day is kept: 30 days on Free, a year on Pro and two years on Business. Older days are removed automatically.
Questions
Does the app change my site on its own?
No. Scans are read-only. The only things it writes are what you click Apply on: the tags of that page or the local business block on the homepage. It never touches business listings, social profiles, languages or any account outside your site.
Do I need an address, a country or another account?
No. The app runs from your site dashboard for any site in any country. The address fields are optional and only used in the structured data you choose to add.
Why is a page missing?
Only pages in the sitemap are checked. Hidden pages, pages set to noindex and unpublished pages are left out, and your plan limits the number of pages per scan.
A check is wrong for my page.
Click Ignore next to it. Checks are measured automatically and cannot know every intention; ignoring one hides it everywhere until you bring it back.
What happens if I cancel a paid plan?
Cancel in your site’s Subscriptions page. Paid tools stay active until the end of the paid period, then the app continues on the Free plan. Everything you applied stays in your pages.
How do I remove the app?
Open Apps > Manage Apps in your dashboard and delete SiteTune. The SiteTune Data collection is removed with it; the tags you applied stay, as they are part of your pages.
